Fixing Vague communication
Sometimes my friends send me things that I assume they think I'll enjoy or find funny but sometimes they also send me stuff to troll me like "haha sufferrrrr bc I got traumatized I need to traumatize my friends" and when I get sent something I don't like I usually don't interact with it lol
Sometimes people send me stuff with 0 context and I have no idea if it's a scam or what unless it's a genuine YouTube or tumbler or something I can vet I just don't click on what my friends send me.
Lately when I send something to my friends I add a dumb comment why I think they might enjoy what I sent them, or why it reminded me of them and it seems to be working, because when they send me something, sometimes they will add a note why they sent it to me.
All this I was connecting to a situation I was having how irl I've been taking art classes to improve my art. It's not mandatory to improve, I can draw for fun and stagnate and never learn anything for the rest of my life.
But since I don't want that, I want to improve. But to improve, I have to do things that are difficult and overcome the difficulties.
Which I might fail a few times before I succeed.
And failing isn't fun.
But during the failing when I complain, my husband was like, "why do you do things that just make you miserable just quit"
But all I heard was "you're a failure and you don't have what it takes to succeed so just quit before you hurt yourself"
But what I wanted to hear from him was "you can do it"
I had to communicate my needs for him to meet them, funny right?
I'm miffed that he needed me to say it out loud because he always makes me play these complicated games that I don't want to play where he won't let me look up the answer, he wants me to figure it out like I can read minds of these game devs. But he couldn't figure out me, until I figured out what to articulate to him
On one hand, I get it. If I look up the answer to the game, I don't get the satisfaction of figuring out the puzzle.
After I explained my pov of asking him to encourage me, Even if he tells me what I want to hear I know that isn't what he actually believes. I had to hand him the guide book. Even if I beat the game that doesn't mean I solved the puzzle.
But At least now he understands my pov???
But I also feel like there are somethings that people just can't figure out alone. Or at least figure out alone before it's too late, so I can't be too mad. Maybe one day the fake encouragement will turn into genuine encouragement.
